At the heart of this Bellatrix necklace rests Our Lady of Czestochowa, Poland’s beloved Black Madonna, serene, steadfast and ancient. She's holding her Christ child. Legend tells us the original painting was made by St. Luke and painted on the Holy Family's dinner table made by Saint Joseph and Jesus. The miracles and astonishing events surrounding this holy icon are countless.
Flanking her side is a French Saint Benedict medal, offered in honor of the Benedictine monks who have faithfully safeguarded her image for centuries within their monastery at Jasna Góra. Beside them stands a French Saint Michael the Archangel, the ever-present protector against evil in all its shapes and forms. A delicate north star completes the constellation—invoking her maternal protection and lighting the way along the path of your life.
On the back is Saint John Paul II who credits her for saving his life and for driving communist control out of Poland in the 1980's. Each piece is handmade with prayerful intention and with great devotion to the Madonna and the Saints represented.
The generous 34-inch length is designed for versatility — wear it doubled as a bold two-strand necklace or as a single long mantle that drapes gracefully across the chest.
Medals are cast bronze with 22KT gold plating. The Black Madonna medal is approximately 1", Saint Benedict .75, and Saint Michael .75" The bead chain beads are 4mm and the chain is super sturdy.
