The Our Lady of Carmel - Star of the Sea Medieval Chain necklace features a Our Lady of Mount Carmel medal with Saint Teresa of Avila on the reverse side. It's modeled from an 18th century Lady of Mount Carmel holy medal that was part of a monks personal collection. The Miraculous Three Day Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel sparked a desire for me to learn more about Our Lady of Carmel and wow, what an amazing history is waiting to be discovered if you have never encountered her story before!
The devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the oldest known devotion to the Blessed Mother and is said to go back 800 years before her birth. The inspiration for this necklace comes from a wonderful Three Day Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. A tiny star medal has been added in acknowledgement of Mary's role as the the Star of the Sea, as she is beacon for us all when we encounter the rough waters of life. It also represent the graces Mary showers us with every day, but especially when we ask her for them.
The medals are made of bronze clad 22KT Matte Gold and hand cast using the lost wax method in New England. The original medals are findings from Europe that have been collected over the years by our owner and designer Ginny Parker. Designed as "everyday" wear to keep the Special Graces promised by Our Lady close at hand.
Length is 34", 28" or that of your choice by special order.
The Lady of Mount Carmel Medal is 1.75 x 2 inches and Star approximately .50 inches.
Materials: 22KT Matte Gold over Bronze. The matte gold spring clasp also serves a a charge holder allowing you to remove the medal.
(This prayer is never known to fail and is to be said for 3 consecutive days.)
Oh most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity.
O Star of the Sea, help me and show me here you are my mother.
Oh Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech Thee from the bottom of my heart to secure me in my necessity.
(Make your request)
There are none that can withstand your power.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.
(repeat three times)
Holy Mary, I place this cause in Your hands.
