Happy Feast Day of Saint Helena
Saint Helena lived from 248 to 330 A.D. She was the mother of Emperor Constantine and she raised him alone for many years after being divorced for political reasons by his father. Hence she is known as the Patron Saint of difficult marriage and divorce, as well as new discoveries and pilgrimage. Constantine adorned his mother. She helped him rule and spent her life advocating for the poor and disadvantaged in her domain. However, she is most remembered for the last years of her life when she pilgrimaged to the the Holy Land in search of holy sites, sacred relics and the fulfillment of her soul calling and life mission.
It's believed that in the last two years of her life, Saint Helena toured the Holy Land and found the "True Cross", the Crown of Thorns, Christ's birthplace, the Steps of Pilate and many other holy relics. She is also attributed with bringing the painting of Our Lady of Czestochowa, (who we will meet next week) to Europe. In honor of Saint Helena and in celebration of Pilgrimage, I'm excited to introduce our new Pilgrim's Way Medallion.
