I didn't, but one of the blessings of my work is spending time researching vintage medallions and their ancient symbolism. Each medal is it's own unique work of art, with a story to tell that is often cloaked in mystery. Most of the original medals in our colletions date back about 100 years, some are as old as the 18th century. The names of some of the medal artists are known, while others have been lost to time, but the reverence they brought to their work in divine service lives on.
August is a month filled with Feast Days that highlight the life of the Divine Mother and several beloved Saints.
It is said, "That any human being needing comfort, vision, guidance or strength was heard by the Immaculate Heart ... and thus, Blessed Mother would immediately arrive with veils flying ... to place us under her mantle for protection, to give us that one thing the world longs for so: the warmth of the mother’s compassionate touch. -
This Immaculate Heart medal is known as the "Sainte Vierge" Medallion. Sainte Vierge means Blessed Mother and the Heart and Dagger represent the joy of loving with a wide open heart and the pain that often accompanies it. The inscription also references the Parisian Saint Vincent de Paul, the helper and agent of the poor who asked that we live with humble and charitable hearts in service to those in need.
