St Bernadette was only 14 when she received a vision of a the Virgin Mary in a grotto near Lourdes, France. Many people have been miraculously healed after bathing in the water at Lourdes, and the spring is still visited by thousands of people seeking healing today. Bernadette became a nun and died in 1879.
This medal features the Our Lady of Lourdes with the French inscription at the bottom "N D [Notre Dame] de Lourdes" (Our Lady of Lourdes). The reverse shows St Bernadette kneeling in the grotto of Lourdes before the Virgin Mary. This medal is a reproduction of an antique medal in my personal collection. It shows all the wear of the original piece. It is made of sterling silver and will come with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, so it's ready to give as a present to someone else or yourself.
